Westfield Garden State Plaza “Flagship”Dining Terrace Renovation
The transformation of Garden State Plaza’s former food court space into a bistro destination was a core renovation principal as part of its “flagship” interior renovation. “Urban Bistro” provided the aesthetic format for a genuinely reinvented internal environment.

A new grand entrance is created @ the interior to establish a sense of place.
The monumental (2) level entry portal was developed to establish the dining terrace sense of arrival.

The Urban Bistro’s “central lobby” is created to establish a new welcoming zone between two newly defined bistro eating areas.
The area is a court, a node, and a unique place to dwell & eat. It is also the main zone of circulation to and through the dining terrace space.

A view to “Bistro East.”
Increasing the level of transparency and view through the space was an important principal of the interior design. This was achieved by radically reducing the sizes of the column cladding and prioritizing views to the food tenants beyond.
Bistro East View #2- Opening the ceilings within the existing shell space added a perception of more height both aesthetically and physically and provided the essential contrast required for the space.
A view to “Bistro West.”
Large metal frames define the views through the space with layers of decorative lighting appropriately placed to add scale to the interior as required.
The details of “Bistro West”- Large communal tables with terrarium plantings, hanging wire decorative pendants, industrial wire cage fixtures, and commercial grade metal Thornet chair reproductions create the unique bistro environment.
