Westfield Garden State Plaza “Flagship” Kids Play Concept

Garden State Plaza’s “flagship” play space concept was conceived as part of the overall “Urban Bistro” dining terrace redevelopment. At a budget of $1.4m, we were challenged to unify the play space environment with the rest of the bistro experience while creating a unique sub-trend for the target user- children of all ages. The result was a perfect balance of aesthetics combining the distinct features of both “Urban Bistro” & “Jersey Shore” into a seamless play space & dining environment.

The play space concept while part of the dining terrace “Urban Bistro” renovation was meant to blend with the bistro design while exhibiting its own aesthetic experience.

As part of the $1.4 m budget, a virtual interactive fish tank was conceived for the project @ the entry of the play space.

An “seamless” aesthetic yet unique to trend.

“Jersey Shore” was the appropriate sub-trend to the “Urban Bistro” experience for the dining terrace. It provided applicable local references for the GSP consumer that reflected one’s memory at the beach during the summer months.

A climbing structure for all ages. The netted structure and renovated play space interior was meant to evoke being beneath the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore.
